Dr. Helen H. Kyomen is Medical Director of the Geriatric Psychiatry Program and an adult and geriatric psychiatrist at Boston Medical Center – Brighton. She is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Tufts University School of Medicine, and Lecturer on Psychiatry, Part-Time at Harvard Medical School. A fellowship-trained, board-certified geriatric psychiatrist, Dr. Kyomen has over three decades of experience caring for older adults with depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and mild and major neurocognitive disorders, including dementia-related behavioral symptoms. Her patient-centered approach combines careful diagnosis, individualized medication management, psychosocial treatment, and collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. She chairs the Committee on Aging of the Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry. Her scholarship focuses on healthy aging and brain health, late-life mood and behavioral disorders, neurocognitive disorders, lifestyle psychiatry, clinical ethics, and humane, accountable uses of artificial intelligence in mental health care.
