About

Jason B. Strauss, MD, is a board-certified general and geriatric psychiatrist at Boston Medical Center – Brighton (BMC Brighton) and Chief of Psychiatry at BMC Brighton and BMC South in Brockton, Massachusetts. He additionally serves as Interim Director for the Psychiatry Residency Program at BMC Brighton. Dr. Strauss is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Dr. Strauss received his medical degree from Stony Brook University School of Medicine in Stony Brook, NY, and completed his psychiatry residency training through the Harvard Longwood Psychiatry Residency Program in Boston. He subsequently completed a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at Cambridge Health Alliance. Before joining BMC Brighton, Dr. Strauss worked as a geriatric psychiatrist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Hebrew SeniorLife, and then at Cambridge Health Alliance, where he held roles including Director of Inpatient Psychiatry, Director of Geriatric Psychiatry, and Training Director of the Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship.

Dr. Strauss is experienced at treating behavioral manifestations of cognitive disorders as well as anxiety, depressive, and psychotic disorders. In addition to working with older adults, he specializes in treating patients with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI).

Dr. Strauss is focused on providing high-quality, cost-effective care to underserved, vulnerable populations. He has piloted projects that have improved throughput from the emergency room to inpatient psychiatry and minimized polypharmacy, including benzodiazepines and antipsychotics, in older adults with cognitive impairment. His clinical research interests also include sleep disorders and frailty. He enjoys working with residents and students as well as collaborating with colleagues from all disciplines.
