David M. Greer, MD, MA, FCCM, FAHA, FNCS, FAAN, FANA, is a board-certified neurologist specializing in vascular neurology and neurocritical care at Boston Medical Center (BMC), where he serves as the Richard B. Slifka Chief of Neurology; as well as at Boston Medical Center – Brighton (BMC Brighton) and Boston Medical Center – South (BMC South) in Brockton, Massachusetts. Dr. Greer is also Professor of Neurology and Chair of the Department of Neurology at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.

Dr. Greer earned his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville. He completed his neurology residency training and then a fellowship in Vascular Neurology and Neurocritical Care at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) through Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Greer is an expert in spinal disorders, vascular neurology, and neurocritical care. He has authored more than 300 peer-reviewed manuscripts, reviews, chapters, guidelines, and books, and serves as a reviewer for several of the most prestigious scientific journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, Brain, Neurology, and Stroke.

Dr. Greer’s research interests include predicting recovery from coma after cardiac arrest; brain death; and multiple stroke-related topics, including acute stroke treatment, temperature modulation, and stroke prevention.
