About

Ekaterina “Kathy” Petersen, MSN, NP, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner (FNP) specializing in primary care at Boston Medical Center – Brighton (BMC Brighton). She is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Nursing at the University of Massachusetts Boston (UMass Boston).

Kathy holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York, and earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Columbia University School of Nursing in New York City. She completed her Family Nurse Practitioner training through the post-master’s certificate program at UMass Boston. Before joining BMC, she worked in emergency and pediatric care at Winchester Hospital, Spaulding Hospital, and Cambridge Health Alliance.

Kathy provides compassionate, evidence-based care for patients and families across the lifespan, with a focus on building long-term, trusting relationships. Her approach emphasizes collaboration, education, and personalized preventive care to help patients achieve and maintain their best health. She is committed to improving access and comfort for patients from diverse backgrounds and providing care that reflects the whole person—social, emotional, and physical.

In addition to English, Kathy is fluent in Russian.
