About
Erica R. M. Mintzer, MD, is a board-certified family medicine and primary care physician and Medical Director for Boston Medical Center – Brighton (BMC Brighton) Primary Care at 11 Nevins. She is also an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.
Dr. Mintzer holds an undergraduate degree in Latin American literature from Dartmouth College. Before pursuing medicine as a career, she worked for three years at the environmental policy consulting firm Tellus Institute. She earned her medical degree from Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut, and completed her family medicine residency at Boston University Medical Center. Dr. Mintzer subsequently honed her leadership skills through the Kraft Practitioner Program in Community Health and the Linde Family Fellowship in Primary Care Leadership at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
From 2012 to 2019, Dr. Mintzer practiced primary care at Codman Square Health Center as well as in the Labor & Delivery Unit at BMC. At Codman, she assumed the roles of perinatal provider champion and Family Medicine Department director. From 2019 to 2025, she served as Medical Director of the Malden Family Medicine Center, which is Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA)’s largest primary care site and the home of Tufts Medicine’s family medicine residency program. In 2025, she became Medical Director for Group Visits for CHA Primary Care.
Dr. Mintzer has focused her career on improving the health of patients, families, and communities through direct clinical care, as well as enhancing systems to promote population health. She has specific experience in operationalizing group medical visits and leading quality improvements in perinatal care.
