Interventional & Structural Cardiologist
About
Sumon Roy, MD, FACC, FACP, FSCAI, is a board-certified interventional and structural cardiologist with the Boston Medical Center Health System who specializes in adult interventional and structural cardiology. Dr. Roy focuses on procedural intervention for coronary artery disease and valvular heart disease and performs minimally invasive transcatheter procedures aimed at treating complex and critical cardiac conditions while reducing the need for open heart surgery.
Dr. Roy performs procedures at all Boston Medical Center Health System hospitals—Boston Medical Center (BMC), BMC Brighton, and BMC South—and maintains an outpatient practice in North Easton, Massachusetts, where he sees patients with general, interventional, and structural cardiology concerns.
As the only BMC physician on the South Shore trained to perform advanced interventional and structural cardiology procedures, Dr. Roy brings a unique skillset to the region. A native of the South Shore, he feels a strong connection to the patient population he serves, and was eager to return to the region following completion of his clinical training.
Dr. Roy earned his medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts, and completed his internal medicine residency at Rochester General Hospital in Rochester, New York. He then completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease through Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, as well as fellowships in both interventional and structural cardiology at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society in 2024.
Dr. Roy has authored over 100 peer-reviewed abstracts and publications and has presented his work at national and international conferences. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), American College of Physicians (FACP), and Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI).
