Pregnancy Checklist
Checklist for Your Pregnancy
The amount of information you get during pregnancy can be overwhelming. We’ve broken down the basics of what you need to do or should consider during each month of pregnancy.
Months 1 to 3 (First Trimester)
- Prepare a list of questions for your prenatal visits
- Take prenatal vitamins
- Maintain healthy eating habits
- Do not smoke, drink alcohol, or take street drugs
- Avoid smoking areas with secondhand smoke
- Meet with your obstetrician/midwife
- Obtain exercise guidelines from your care provider
- Start a pregnancy photo album
- If you will be returning to work following the birth, start arranging for child care
Months 3 to 6 (Second Trimester)
- Preregister for your hospital stay
- Consider infant feeding options
- Register for childbirth/refresher/sibling preparation, breastfeeding, and infant and child CPR and safety classes
Months 6 to 9 (Third Trimester)
- Attend childbirth/breastfeeding/baby care classes
- Discuss your desires for your birth experience with your provider
- Prepare your nursery
- Select your pediatrician/infant care provider
- Interview and select reliable babysitters
- Make arrangements for other children who will be at home during your hospital stay
- Buy an infant car seat (certified for use in motor vehicles)
- Plan transportation to and from the hospital and become familiar with the route
- Pack a suitcase for you and your baby
