Resident-led Leadership Committees
Residency Committee
The Residency Committee is composed of representatives from each PGY level. The Committee is responsible for raising and discussing residency-related issues, as well as suggesting improvements.
The committee is co-chaired by Junior and Senior resident representatives elected each year by the residents. Co-chairs meet with program leadership and chiefs’ medical residents on a regular basis to communicate issues and solutions.
This Committee embodies our belief in open communication between residents and program leadership, who work together to generate ideas and create opportunities that bring positive changes to the program.
Community Outreach Committee
The Community Outreach Committee is composed of representatives from each PGY level class. Members discuss various projects that aim to engage our residents in providing resources or services to our local community.
This committee also aims to improve our residents’ understanding of social determinants of health through active regular participation in a local farmers market, providing blood pressure readings, free BP cuffs obtained via an organization, and education on stroke prevention.
The committee also organizes events to strengthen relationships within the program and visibility of the program within the hospital.
Health and Wellness Committee
The Health and Wellness Committee is composed of residents from each postgraduate year (PGY-1 through PGY-3). Members gather feedback from their peers annually to identify wellness needs and priorities. Based on this input, they plan and organize a variety of wellness initiatives, including educational lectures on health and wellbeing, social events such as picnics, and creative activities like painting sessions. These efforts foster a supportive and balanced environment throughout the academic year.
