Innovative, Culturally Competent Inpatient Care
The BMC South Brockton Behavioral Health Center provides innovative, culturally competent care to people with substance use disorders (SUDs) and mental illness in three acute inpatient psychiatric units and one clinical stabilization service, delivered by an expert team reflecting the makeup of the communities we serve. Our 32-bed Clinical Stabilization Services (CSS) unit offers referral-only, 24-hour/7-day voluntary residential treatment to those seeking long-term recovery from SUDs. Our Inpatient Psychiatric Service offers referral-only, 24-hour/7-day care for patients who need secure psychiatric treatment in an acute inpatient setting.

Our leadership and staff offer culturally competent services that reflect the makeup of the Brockton community. We offer many services in languages other than English, including (but not limited to) Spanish, Haitian Creole, and Cape Verdean.
All of our team members work with patients to ensure they receive the highest-quality patient care.
Basic hygiene kits are provided at no cost to our patients, but if you can get ready before your arrival at our inpatient psychiatric unit, or if you have friends or family who can bring your personal items, the following may increase your comfort while here:
- Casual, machine-washable clothing, as our facility is equipped with washing machines and dryers
- Coat or jacket
- Comfortable shoes
- CPAP machines
- Dentures
- Eyeglasses
- Feminine hygiene products
- Hairbrush
- Hearing aids
- Non-aerosol deodorant

Clinical Stabilization Service (CSS)
Patients must go through an agency or mental health services provider with staff who will submit a referral to our program for services. Our staff will review the referral to determine eligibility for admission into our program.
There are some forms of MassHealth, Medicare, and commercial insurances that we may accept. Please contact our program to confirm whether we are able to accept a patient’s health insurance. Additionally, the referring agency may also call the behavioral health Member Services phone number on the back of the patient’s insurance card.
Inpatient Psychiatric Service
We receive referrals from multiple sources, including Emergency Departments, inpatient, residential, and outpatient settings.
